Marilyn Joyce Valentine was born January 15, 1928, at Kibby, Oklahoma to Captain Herbert and Mary Irene (Tucker) Page. Joyce grew up in a sod house, which still exists today on the Page property. She graduated from Buffalo High School where she played basketball. She also enjoyed tap dancing and playing the saxophone while in school. Joyce married Paul Russell Valentine on September 8, 1946 in Woodward, where they made their home. This marriage lasted a wonderful 61 years. From this marriage three boys were born, Brant Paul, Lane Russell, and Ty Kellee.
Joyce modeled clothing for Trego’s Western Wear and also worked at the USDA Field Station in Woodward. Joyce could grow anything as she had quite the green thumb. She loved animals, especially cats. She was also quite the seamstress as she enjoyed sewing clothes for others. In her later years, she enjoyed dancing at the Senior Citizens Center with her dear friends.
