Rhea Mae (Johnson) Smotts was born on October 15, 1939 in Jay, Oklahoma. Her mother Tressie Althea Reed died shortly after giving birth to her and her twin sister Thea. They were adopted and raised by their uncle, Harley Reed who cared for them as if they were his own. Rhea was reared in Tulsa and attended school there. She was united in marriage to William Jerry Smotts on February 14, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. To this most happy union, three daughters were born: Karen, Sharon and Cheryl. They made their first home in Tulsa before moving to Chicago, Illinois where Jerry worked as a youth pastor and a sidewalk evangelist at the Full Gospel Church. They later moved to Russelville, Arkansas, then back to Tulsa before moving to Woodward in 1977. Rhea served with her husband in the ministry and was always willing to help anyone in need.

She was a member of the Church of God, the church which she and Jerry started in Woodward. After his death she attended and was very involved with the Woodward First Assembly of God Church. Rhea enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, gardening, collecting cardinals, and going to the nursing home to play the piano on Sunday mornings. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Ingraham and her husband Kerry of Mooreland, Sharon Jantz and husband David of Yukon; two brothers Harvey Johnson and wife Norma of California, Alvin Johnson and wife Betty of Tahlequah; her twin sister Thea Smotts and husband Richard of Waxahachie, Texas, her other sisters Violet Casey of Tulsa, Ramona Turner of California, Alta Nave of Tulsa, Betty Mattison of Tulsa; six grandchildren Jennifer Moore and husband Micah, David Standley, Heather Morrison and husband John, Charity Epperson and husband Austin, Jeremiah Jantz and wife Hillary, and Hayley Ingraham; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Ally Morrison and two great-grandchildren on the way; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry on June 14, 2005, her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Bruce Henderson on October 31, 1984.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Assembly of God Church Widows Ministry with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
