Greta West, 91 year old Harmon resident, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Vici Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Harmon Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Harmon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home of Woodward.
Greta Della (Lucas) West was born on January 7, 1919 near Harmon, Oklahoma to Earl Ralph and Jessie Pearl (Springer) Lucas. Greta was reared northeast of Harmon and attended country school near her home. She was united in marriage to Cecil John West on February 5, 1936 in Woodward, Oklahoma. She and her husband farmed near Harmon in Woodward County until 1992 when Greta moved to Vici. Cecil preceded in her in death in 1979. Greta moved to the Vici Nursing Home in 2005.
Greta was a faithful member of the Harmon Church of the Nazarene. Greta enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, cooking for her family and church, going to church and helping anywhere she was needed. Greta was well known for her chicken and noodles. She loved spending time with her family and always loved having them home for visits. Her family meant the world to her.
She is survived by her four sons, Dwaine West and wife Ruth of Woodward, Sam West of Harmon, Rollin West and wife Nanette of Harmon, Donald West and wife Sue of Woodward;
12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Beside her husband Cecil, Greta was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Chester Lucas, Elvin Lucas, one sister Viola Miller and one stillborn grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harmon Nazarene Church Building Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
