Clara Lucille Moorer, 92 year old Mutual resident, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Sure Foundation Church of God with Pastor JoAnn Kirkham officiating. Interment will be in the Mutual Persimmon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Clara Lucille (Walker) Moorer was born on February 3, 1918 in Stroud, Oklahoma to Morgan and Effie Mae (Alexander) Walker. Clara graduated from Locust Grove High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Woodrow Wilson Moorer on December 4, 1938 in Moore, Oklahoma. They made their home in Oklahoma City and to this union seven children were born, LaVeda Sue, Melvin Orlando, Donald Wayne, Mary Ann, Rita, James Robert, and Michael Dale. The family moved back to Silvercross, Alabama in 1941. She and the children moved back to Oklahoma City and lived there for some time before moving back to Alabama. Clara was employed in the food service industry and retired in 1988. After her retirement, she was very devoted to her church. Clara lost her home during a hurricane in 2004, so she moved to Mutual to be with her daughter Sue and has remained here since that time.
Clara was a member of the Sure Foundation Church of God. She loved her grandchildren and loved checking calves with her son-in-law Jack. She was a very giving person who always put others before herself.
She is survived by her children LaVeda Sue Irwin and husband Jack of Mutual, Melvin Orlando Wilson of Orange County, California, Donald Wayne Moorer and wife Jeanette of Frankville, Alabama, Mary Ann Pearson of Mobile, Alabama, Rita Humphrey of Mobile, Alabama, James Robert Moorer and wife Betty of Chatom, Alabama; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister Zelma Walker Smith and husband Doug of Locust Grove; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one son, Michael Dale Moorer.
