Robert V. "Bob" Coombs, Jr., 63 year old Woodward resident, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at his home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Billings Funeral Home with the Reverend Aaron Martin officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Robert Vincent Coombs Jr. was born on September 13, 1946 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Robert Vincent Sr. and Leola Faye (Bohard) Coombs. Bob was reared in Woodward and attended Woodward and Weatherford schools and graduated from Woodward High School in 1964. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Moore in 1969 and to this union they were blessed with two children, Judy and Brian. They made their home in Woodward and Bob has lived here since that time. He worked for Firestone for 20 years but had been working for the City of Woodward in the Water Department for the last 10 years.
Bob was a member of the Woodward Moose Lodge and the USBCCUS Bowling Congress. When he was younger he had a 1957 Chevy that meant the world to him. He enjoyed bowling, sooner sports and classic cars. Bob loved going to the OU football games and being with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter Judy Swedberg of Yukon; one son Brian Coombs of Edmond; one brother Dan Coombs of Woodward; three grandchildren Travis Swedberg, Andrew Swedberg, Breanne Swedberg all of Yukon; his aunts, Flo Dennis of Enid, Carol Hart of Washington state; nephew, Christopher Coombs of Stillwater; niece Connie Coombs of Wichita, Kansas; great nieces Amber Lynn Cooper and Elizabeth Cherry Coombs; other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
