Geraldine M. Reynolds, 88 year old longtime Woodward resident, died Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Woodward Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Sharon United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jeff Ralston officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Geraldine Mae (Bellows) Reynolds was born on August 7, 1921 in Harmon, Oklahoma to James Roscoe and Laura Belle (Benne) Bellows. Geraldine was reared southwest of Woodward and attended the Oakland Grade School. She graduated from Sharon High School in 1939 and attended and graduated from Northwestern State College in Alva in 1948. Geraldine taught at Dacoma while attending college. After receiving her teaching certificate she taught school at Eureka from 1945-1947, the Forgan Schools from 1948-1949, and the Laverne Schools from 1949-1950. Geraldine was united in marriage to Samuel Alfonso Reynolds in 1951. They made their home at a military base in Columbia, South Carolina. To this union they were blessed with four children, Janice Jean, Vade Lee, Laura Dell, and Sam. They moved back to Woodward in the early 1950's and they ran the Beacon Grill for a period of time before moving to Battle Mountain, Nevada.
Geraldine was a member of the United Methodist Church of Alva and the Sharon United Methodist Church. She loved cooking, gardening, canning, crossword puzzles quilting, and compiling family picture albums. Geraldine was a great mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Geraldine had a nack for using number association to relate to births, weddings and any significant happenings. If you wanted to know anything that took place, all you had to do was ask her and you received a complete and accurate accounting.
She is survived by her three daughters, Janice McCord and husband Paul of Woodward, Vada Dressen of Mooreland, Laura Harper and husband Bill J. of Mutual; one sister Xyla Maxine Bennett of Elkhart, Kansas; nine grandchildren Darron McCord and wife Adonna of Perry, Tracy Wilson and husband Jimmy of Ft. Supply, Jacob Dressen and wife Dedra of Yukon, Lauren Dressen of Mooreland, Jenna Harper of Stillwater, Jase Harper of Mutual; five great-grandchildren, Wade Wilson, Weston Wilson, Sam Dressen, Paul Thomas McCord and Natalie Jennings; nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sets of infant twin sisters; her three year old sister, Laura Marie Bellows, her husband Sam Reynolds, three brothers, Earl Bellows, Frank Bellows, Charles Bellows, son-in-law, J.D. Dressen and her son Sam Reynolds.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
