Obituary for Gayle Beauchamp

Gayle Beauchamp, 75 year old Woodward resident, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Ware officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Joyce Gayle Smith Beauchamp was born on December 20, 1942 in Clinton, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Douglas Monroe and Carmen Glendene Meek Smith. She attended school in Clinton and Rocky, Oklahoma. Gayle was united to J.C. Jake Beauchamp on September 20, 1963 in Clinton, where the couple made their home. Gayle and Jake moved to Elk City in 1964, and Gayle sewed custom drapes. In 1973 they moved to Erick, Oklahoma and in 1976 the couple moved to Woodward, where they managed Woodward Lumber for the next 28 years. Up until her illness, she helped take care of Buster Martin.

Gayle always looked forward to attending a Thunder basketball game, or going to the casino with her special friends. She most of all loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She loved to cook meals and bake for her family, as well as sew and do craft projects.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.

Gayle is survived by her husband Jake of the home; one son, Greg Beauchamp and Rita Redfearn of Leedey; one daughter, Kristy Snider and husband Bruce of Woodward; four grandchildren, Colby Jeter; and Blaire Beauchamp; Leann Carico and husband Todd; Lindsey Scotney and husband Sean; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor; Gabbie; Manny; Sofeea; Hailey; Luke; Scarlett; and Finn; two sisters, Glendene Goucher and husband Wayne of Clinton; Marcia Burrows and husband Phil of Oklahoma City; several nieces, nephews, special friends, Brenda Hughes; Jean Schwab; Joyce McDowell; and was a second mom to many of her daughters high school basketball teammates and was referred to as Momma Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Robs Ranch a substance abuse program for young men with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
