James Dale Milton was born February 25, 1942 in Woodward, Oklahoma to James Thomas (J.T.) And Nellie (Tuggle) Milton. Dale attended Fargo Schools and graduated in 1960. He went on to Okmulgee State Tech and graduated in auto mechanics. On June 1, 1963 Dale was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Semmel. To this union one child was born, Steven Dale Milton. Dale and Barbara built their home in Woodward, Oklahoma. Dale went to work for Champlin Service Station and later worked at Owens Supply until they moved to the family farm north of Fargo in 1972 where Dale proudly continued the family farm and ranch business.

Dale was known for his knowledge of the farm and ranch operations, but he was also known for his love of racing which enabled him to pull every last horsepower out of an engine. Dale was recognized as a top racer, holding NHRA records. He set the track record at Five State Raceway in Liberal, Kansas in 1970 with a track time in N/Stock class of 14.22 seconds at 94.73 mph and G/SA with a E/T 13.47 at 101.69 mph. Dale and his son, Steve, spent a lot of time together and had many accomplishments drag racing during the 80's and early 90's. He later took great pride in assisting with building his grandson’s motors during Taylor’s years of sprint car racing. But Dale’s heart and soul belonged on the family farm where he took great pride in his cattle, crops, and his land.

Dale was a member and served on many boards including the Fargo School Board, Ellis County Conservation Board, Fargo Farmers Co-op and the Woodward Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Steve Milton and wife Julie; his grandsons, Taylor Milton and wife Becky; Ethan Milton; one granddaughter, Ryanna; one great-granddaughter Paislee, and was to soon welcome his great-grandson Ledger Dale to this world.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.T., his mother, Nellie, and his aunt, Marie Milton.
