Obituary for Lawrence Ernest Braun

Lawrence “Larry” Ernest Braun, 72 year old longtime businessman, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019. A nurseryman, husband, father, and friend to many others, will be deeply missed. A private family service will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Larry was born in Columbia, South Carolina on March 28, 1947 to Ernest Alejandro and Dixie Lee (Young) Braun. Raised in Southern California, Larry always had a knack for entrepreneurship looking to make that extra buck. He met the love of his life in Pomona, California while just starting a cleaning business. He married Wanda Sue Gray on September 16, 1974. They had a lasting marriage of almost 45 years. To this union three children were born: Skip Jonathen Braun, Todd William Braun, and Jackie Sue Braun.

He started his first greenhouse business in Woodward in 1981. For almost 40 years he kept up the greenhouse, moving and expanding, learning through trials and tribulations. A true nurseryman at heart, his current tree farm still to this day boasts his love, passion, and desire to grow beautiful, huge trees.

Larry landscaped most of Woodward over the years. When you sit in the shade provided by his trees on a hot summer day, think of him.

Larry is survived by his wife, Wanda; one son Skip Braun; one daughter, Jackie Sue Braun all of Woodward; grandchildren, Vash and Kaitlin Braun of Weatherford, Alex and Allison Reed of Woodward; one brother, Michael Braun of California.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dixie Lee Gaffney; son, Todd William Braun.

If you wish to send a card please send to Wanda Braun, P.O. Box 43, Woodward, OK 73802.
